Redesigned Knowledge Bank & Item Editor with Flash Cards + Vocabulary
This article provides an overview of recent updates to Cerego, including the redesigned Knowledge Bank (learner and course views) and the updated Item Editor with new Flash Card and Vocabulary item types.
We’re excited to share two major upgrades rolling out over the next week in Cerego: a fully redesigned Knowledge Bank experience and a rebuilt Item Editor that introduces two new item types — Flash Cards and Vocabulary.
These updates bring a fresh look, smoother performance, and even more flexibility when building and monitoring learning content.
Knowledge Bank, Redesigned
Whether you’re an instructor tracking student progress or a learner managing your study journey, the Knowledge Bank helps make sense of what’s been learned and what still needs work.
What’s new?
Modern look and feel
- Cleaner visuals and new graphs help surface insights faster.
Course View (for instructors)
- Now displays learner progress per assignment using a simplified layout. Filter by student or assignment. Extra views like Last Seen, Difficulty, and Study Time now live as widgets above the graph.
- Need to refer back? A link is available to switch to the legacy view.
Learner View
- Instead of one giant list of every assignment, learners now land on a summary by course. From there, they can drill into course-specific views.
- Both views keep the core insights, like how recently you’ve studied or which items need review, but with a more focused layout.
A Smoother, Smarter Item Editor
The Item Editor has also been rebuilt and visually refreshed, making it easier to organize and create content.
What's new?
Updated UI for all item types
- Including collapsible sections for Instructional Items, better preview controls, and a streamlined layout for entering answers, images, and audio.
Flash Cards
- Define a card front, optional backs, and wrong answers to help drive learning — all with media support. Cerego’s graduated difficulty is built in: learners will progress from recognizing the answer to recalling it from memory.
Vocabulary Items
- Great for language learning or domain-specific terminology. Define a foreign term and native translation, with wrong answers for both. Audio support helps reinforce pronunciation, and graduated difficulty leads learners toward sentence-based recall.
Fully backward compatible
Old content works just fine — and if you prefer the legacy UI while adjusting, there’s an option to toggle back for now.
