My mobile app isn't syncing with my instructor's gradebook

You may have seen a warning on your phone that looks something like this:

Don't despair! In this article, we will present detailed steps to help your mobile app connect with your instructors gradebook.

Why is this happening?

It's not your fault; it is just a small technology quirk in the main website that hosts your course (and your instructor's gradebook). Your mobile app can only "talk" with your gradebook if you have launched each assignment once from within your main course website. 

You don't need to study each assignment, they only need to load within that website for the connection to be made.  Then your gradebook can send a request to Cerego to pass back any progress you've made on your mobile app. 

Here are is detailed steps to help you complete this grade sync process. 

Step 1:  Log in to your main course website

Cerego works with a variety of learning technology partners, but some of the most common are:

  • Mindtap by Cengage
  • Elsevier Adaptive Learning
  • Canvas 
  • EdX
  • NYU Classes
  • and more

Whatever your platform, go ahead and log in. 

Step 2:  Open each Cerego assignment 

One at a time, open each assignment that you would like to sync with your Cerego mobile app. 

In some cases, Cerego may be embedded on a page of your course.  If that's the case, just scroll to the frame showing your Cerego assignment.

Step 3:  Save each by clicking 'Exit'

As soon as your assignment fully loads on the page, your course will be able to pass grades back and forth with your Cerego mobile app.  To be sure each assignment has loaded, we recommend clicking the 'Exit' button on the top right of your screen.  This will launch a message confirming that your progress has saved.  This is an optional step.

 

Every assignment you're learning on mobile needs its own sync, so make sure you repeat these steps for everything you'd like to study. 

If your Cerego mobile app has shown you a list of 'out of sync' assignments, this list will update within a minute after you have completed the steps above.
