Higher-level awareness of one’s own thoughts. In particular, meta-memory refers to the awareness of one’s learning and memory and is especially important for guiding effective study.
The more conscious you are of your knowledge and thought processes, the more you can focus your energy on shoring up knowledge where it's most needed.
