Software Tester

First things first. If your idea of software testing is executing test cases that someone else has written for you, or if you think that an incomplete spec document means that you can’t start testing – stop reading now. This job is not for you.

We’re looking for someone that is naturally curious, detail oriented and asks questions rather than blindly accepting information. If you want to help build a better product, if you’re the sort of person who can see a software product from a number of different perspectives (and use them to find bugs), if you’re the sort of person who will proactively hit the books (or the Internets) to skill up, if you’re the sort of person who looks for how something can be done (as opposed to complaining about how it can’t), then it may be that your place is here.

Here’s what we’d really like you to know already:

  • English and Japanese language – Fluent in at least one, conversational level in the other.
  • If you have 2-3 years testing experience in web apps and or mobile apps, that’s great. If you don’t but you’re passionate about learning and you have a burning ambition to be a software tester, then that’s good too.
  • Prior experience with Ruby (rails), MySQL, Selenium, Cucumber (general scripting knowledge, knowledge of software architecture, BDD test automation etc also good)
  • Prior experience with exploratory testing (chartered or otherwise)
  • Localisation and internationalisation testing skills highly regarded

We prefer candidates already in Japan and looking for a full-time position.
