Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Design and implementation of large-scale web applications
- RDBMS experience, including schema design and content modeling
- Optimization of database queries and learning algorithms
- Integration of 3rd-party web applications, services, and components
Requirements:
- Strong programming and information design skills
- Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly
- Strong object oriented programming and design skills
- Prior experience with web development (AJAX, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, JSP/PHP/ASP, Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.)
- Working in a fast paced agile environment with continuous integration, unit/integration/load/performance testing
- Estimating and scoping development work accurately
- Git source control
- Strong sense of ownership and detail-orientation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience and understanding of the various mobile/web platform UI design guidelines;
- Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment
- Building test tools and interfaces to assist testing
- Background of working in interdisciplinary teams of 3+ members.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written business English + conversational Japanese)
We prefer those who can demonstrate experience in:
- Developing with Rails in a production environment, at least six months (preferably two years or more)
- In-depth understanding of SQL in general and MySQL in particular
- AJAX, JSON, XHTML, CSS, XML
- Developing web service clients and RESTful server interfaces
- ActiveRecord: associations, validation, callbacks
- ActionController: routing, filters and verification, caching
- ActionView: templates, layouts and components, partials
- Algorithms, patterns, MVC & N-layered application design
